GREAT COMMENTS ABOUT OUR COURSE.
On May 17th. the Club hosted the first round of the 2011 Laois International Challenge. This involved golfers from Britain ,Italy, and Ireland, north and south, playing three courses to qualify for a final round at The Heritage. Mountrath and Rathdowney were the other courses played this year. I personally spoke to every player in Abbeyleix and the positive comments I heard from visitors were really unbelievable. They were especially complimentary about our greens and one visitor, a member of a prestigious Club in Munster, said they were the best greens he had played on for years. Another visitor said that Abbeyleix was really the proverbial “ Hidden Gem”.
They all commented that the course was presented in a wonderful way and to make it better when I went to The Heritage for the Presentation several of the players said that Abbeyleix was the best of the four courses played.
Another group who recently had an outing at Abbeyleix were Horse Racing Ireland Golf Society whose 2011 Captain is Abbeyleix member Gus Fahey. Again they were full of praise for the course and have said that they certainly will be back to play it again. Thanks to Gus for running his Captains prize at Abbeyleix and we are delighted that their members enjoyed their visit so much.
It is only right that we congratulate our Green Keeper David Green and his staff and of course we must not forget our wonderful volunteers who are helping with grass cutting around the course.
